Job Description:
MINIMUM Qualifications:
Education:
H.S. diploma; successful completion of college level general biology and chemistry coursework; enrolled in a pre-medicine or comparable health science program required.
Experience:
Previous patient care experience preferred; previous experience with clinical research also preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
* General knowledge of clinical research study design, protocols, data acquisition and data analysis, writing and submission of manuscripts
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, patient care providers, regulatory bodies and CCRC staff
* Demonstrated proficiency with data entry for large, complex projects
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook; previous experience with electronic patient care records and electronic clinical databases preferred
* Ability to operate and maintain instruments necessary to conduct research protocols
* Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to conduct literature reviews and summarize results in written format
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
* Ability to work within teams and to be self-motivated
Licensure/Registration/Certification:
* Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the metro area
* Current certification as a health care provider (MA, PCA, EMT-B) preferred but not required.

The Research Intern position will support the Critical Care Research Center staff and investigators in conducting clinical trials within Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Medicine, the Surgical Intensive Care Unit, the Medical Intensive Care Unit, Hospital Medicine, the Trauma Program, and the Burn Center. The individual in this role will be responsible for screening and identifying potential candidates for enrollment in current clinical trials, assist the research staff in the enrollment process for each study, and complete data collection and data entry as directed. This individual will also be involved in the literature review process for proposal development, as well as arrangement of study data into presentation format for manuscript, oral, or poster presentations. The ideal candidate will be currently enrolled or a graduate of a pre-medicine or health science bachelor’s degree program and have previous patient care experience.
